2.10 OER and disability

Disabled people can face particularly difficult challenges with using OER. For example:

  • There is a scarcity of accessible resources.
  • Creating resources in accessible formats can require specialist knowledge (and the desire to do so).
  • There is a dearth of collaborative platforms where individuals with and without disabilities can collectively create open resources that meet the needs of learners with specific disabilities.
