3.5.6 CC BY ND licence

Features

  • Credit must be given to the creator
  • You can copy and distribute the material in any medium or format.
  • You can distribute the resource for commercial purposes.
  • You cannot remix, adapt, or build upon the material.

The ‘no derivatives’ licence element limits the power of OER in preventing adaptation and remixing, so should be used with care. However, in some circumstance it is appropriate, for example for literary works (where the author agrees for distribution but refuses any alteration) or for legal texts that cannot be modified. You can read more at: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/4.0/deed.en.

Example

The Conversation, a network of not-for-profit media outlets, publishes news stories and research reports online, accompanied by expert opinions and analyses. Articles, authored by academics and researchers, are released under a Creative Commons CC BY ND license, allowing reuse without modification.
