Can migrants participate in civic, political and public life?

There are many ways migrants can participate and have their voice heard. It’s important to recognise the opportunities and what migrants can do as well as the barriers.

Take 10-15 minutes to think about the specific community or group that you work with in your role as a migrant support provider. Consider their nationality, immigration status or visa status. Now, do an online search to explore:   

1. Do they have the right to vote in local and general election in the UK? You can use this Can I Vote website tool to check voting eligibility.
2. Can they volunteer or set up a migrant association?
3. Can they work in the public sector?
