Working in partnership to support participation
Helping migrants settle in and get involved in civic, political and public life often starts at the local level, with different organisations — local councils, migrant support groups, universities, and others — working together.
It can be hard to build partnerships and coordinate efforts, especially when organisations don’t have enough funding. But teaming up and sharing resources can be a smart way to tackle these challenges and support migrant communities more effectively.
For more practical ways forward, such as building skills (of migrants and support organisations), creating innovative structures for people to get involved (like participatory budgeting) and advocacy, check out the 'Promoting migrant inclusion and diversity in decision making' policy brief on this website.
