Collagen applications

Collagen is a compound with multiple applications in different sectors such as pharmacological, cosmetic, and tissue regenerations and bioengineering:

(i)   Pharmacological applications: carrier for drug delivery (Figure 19). Collagen hydrolysates are a supplement for enhancing bone, cartilage, and skin repair.

(ii)  Tissue engineering (Figure 20): scaffold for inclusion of tissue regenerating cells, such as osteocytes and chondrocytes. Collagen hydrolysates stimulate the growth and synthesis of collagen structures.

Cosmetic applications (Figure 21): ingredient of moisturisers.  Collagen hydrolysates to stimulate the synthesis of skin collagen in antiaging products
