What is a migrant association?

A migrant association is a group created by and for migrants. It often offers advice, support and services to diverse groups of migrants, particularly those of different nationalities.

Migrant associations help ease migrant integration in several ways:

  • Providing essential support with language, housing or employment.
  • Strengthening social cohesion by celebrating culture and promoting a sense of belonging.
  • Representing migrants and campaigning for their rights.
  • Offering peer support.
  • Empowering migrants by building their leadership skills.
  • Challenging stereotypes and promoting inclusion.
