Protecting our Local Green Space

1. Start by finding out the details of the proposal — check the local council’s website.
2. Talk to your neighbours and see who else is concerned. 
3. Meet the local community campaigner who is already involved to find out what  actions have already been taken.
4. Contact your local councillor to learn about the public consultation timeline.
5. Join or support the local campaign if it reflects your views. Consider the time commitments and if there is any risk of speaking out.
6. You might write to the council, share your opinion in the public consultation, or attend a local meeting to ask questions.
7. Try to understand both sides and explore if there’s a compromise that keeps the space accessible to the community.
8. Consider how to respond to the meeting. What do you want to hear? Do you want to speak? What points would you make if you speak?  Write down the main points.
