This guide was created as part of the ‘Advancing the UK’s capacity to support migrant participation in civic, political and public life’ project, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (2024-25).
The project was co-led by the Centre for Research in Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship (Aston University) in partnership with Social Equity Centre.
The guide was co-designed with a number of collaborating organisations and participation experts, including David Jepson, Economic Development and Policy Specialist, The Coalition of Latin Americans in the UK, and Migrant Democracy Project.
The project was supported by Migration Policy and Practice, ACH, Birmingham City Council, R.U.D.A. (Romani Uniti din Anglia), and Migrant Support.
Images contained in the guide were generated through Adobe Firefly, using the following prompts: a council meeting with local community in the town hall, a group of people volunteering at a food bank, a person writing an email on the laptop, a woman wearing scarf taking part in elections, a diverse group of neighbours talking to each other on the street, women wearing scarf and having discussion at a community event, political female leader of Muslim background giving speech to a crowd of people.
