1.3 LEVELS OF COGNITION

Learning, from a cognitive point of view, involves mental operations or thinking skills. It is important for teachers to clearly understand these metal operations in terms of levels of complexity in order to design meaningful lesson competencies expected of the 21st century learner. Therefore, a multi-layered model, named Bloom’s Taxonomy, will be introduced in this subtopic to help you understand different levels of cognition.
