Living in

Notes

Given the tool's focus on broad outcomes rather than technical expertise, the focus in 'heritage' should tend towards discussion of what should be protected and why that is important, rather than, say, detailed sharing of information on the practicalities of Tree Protection Orders.

The idea of trees as 'community members' can be tricky to discuss. Conceptually, this should be understood as prompting thought on how trees might be brought into social relationships as a way of addressing the divide between people and nature (which was the emphasis of the living as trees Vision). This could, for example, be as an element within community practices (e.g. Christmas carols and decorations on the village green), or related to the rights of nature (e.g. that mature trees have an inalienable right to be protected).
