Top five broad values

Presenting back the Broad Values from the pre-panel survey allows participants to compare their own responses to those of others. The difference between the scores of the top five values are often quite small. If this happens it worth highlighting that it is more important to focus on what has been included and excluded, rather than the order between the five.

In our pilot, the Edinburgh session was held second and was told the top five values of the Camden panel. There was some wry amusement that Londoners might value enjoying life over family security, followed by comparable levels of awkwardness at the reveal that where Edinburgh desires novelty Camden values world peace. The perhaps more meaningful outcome of the conversation was the surprise amongst Edinburghers to see Family Security rated first. The lesson is that being top rated might not be linked to a value generating intensive support, but by gaining some support from the largest number of people.
