Tree Value Visions is a participatory visioning tool for integrating social values into the planning and management of urban treescapes. It is designed to support local decision-making on tree management and planting. It generates evidence and insight about how trees are valued in a locality, focusing on their current and potential social and cultural values.
This free online training provides an introduction to the use of the tool, including its audio and visual materials. Written by the team of academic researchers who developed the original tool, it explains the potential uses before walking you through each part. Completing the interactive quizzes included, although optional, will allow you to build and confirm your understanding.
The course and tool is intended for local authority officers, urban green space managers, members of community groups, community councillors, and others with an interest in urban treescapes. For learners requiring 'proof of study' for Continuing Professional Development purposes, taking the quizzes will release a certificate of participation.
Course enrolment is anonymous unless published by learners. The course team will be able to view the name and email address of learners.
Funded by UK Research and Innovation as part of the Future of UK Treescapes programme, this course is a collaboration between Aberystwyth University, Camden Borough Council, The City of Edinburgh Council, Forest Research, the Local Government Association, Loughborough University, The Open University, and The University of York, Stockholm Environment Institute York.
