2.4.4. Core areas of a GESI assessment

View

The four core areas to consider when conducting an assessment in TVET/HE institutions are:

1) Access to programme courses;

2) Attendance, learning material and teaching pedagogy;

3) Tests and certification, and;

4) Transition to work.

In conducting assessment in the four areas, institutions should follow the minimum standards:

  • Measure programmes/services and organisations as employers;

  • Span multiple identity groups;

  • Involve self-assessment (internal) or a 3rd party expert (external), and;

  • Combine primary and secondary data collection approaches.

Ultimately, the goal of doing any assessment should be to develop an action plan.
