Safeguarding : Introductory Remarks

Welcome to the training on Safeguarding, Economic Inclusion, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion. This module focuses on equipping participants with knowledge and skills to understand and apply safeguarding principles to women, low-income youth, and persons with disabilities in institutions in Kenya.

The training is provided under the Skills for Prosperity Kenya Programme, which aims to improve the quality, relevance, and equity of Higher Education (HE) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in Kenya. 

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, the learner should be able to:

1) Demonstrate understanding of safeguarding concepts, principles & practices; 

2) Understand safeguarding-related policies and legislation applicable to learning environments;

3) Prevent harm in a learning/work environment, and;

4) Appropriately report and/or respond to safeguarding concerns.


The topics covered in this course include:

1) Understanding safeguarding;

2) Safeguarding context;

3) Preventing Harm In Learning Environments, and;

4) Reporting And Responding To Safeguarding Concerns.
