3.2.8.4. Making Safeguarding Personal: Safeguarding Focal Point Persons Responsibilities
Safeguarding focal point persons have the major role of coordinating, supporting, and advising on the development and implementation of the institution’s safeguarding policies and procedures. Some specific actions that they take in executing this role include:
- Leading in awareness raising on the safeguarding measures, Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH) and code of conduct;
- Collaborating with Human Resources in the implementation of safe recruitment measures;
- Leading in conducting safeguarding risk assessments and in the development of appropriate risk mitigation measures;
- Working with programme managers and business unit leads to establishing complaints and feedback mechanisms;
- Supporting the communications and media team in the implementation of safe communication practices;
- Receiving safeguarding reports and leading responses as per the established reporting and responding procedures, and monitoring the progress of the resolutions;
- Coordinating safeguarding reporting to senior management;
- Contributing to funding proposals for safeguarding interventions, and;
- Participation in safeguarding network meetings and working groups.
