- Social structures that are characterised by status, social networks, groups, and organisations should allow for the growth of interconnected relationships in which people create and become part of
- Other elements of social structures like traditional gender roles, disability and the medical model, among others have been found to relate differently and get replicated within skill building institutions leading to bias
- Gender and Social Inclusion should be mainstreamed across the
entire TVET system and process. Different tools and strategies have been
developed to guide TVET/HE to mainstream Gender and Social Inclusion. ILO’ “Guide
on making TVET and skills development inclusive for all” is one of such tools.
The guide proposes 9 strategic steps which include:
- Governance and Strategy Development
- Promoting Access
- Skills Need Identification
- Standards, Qualifications and Curriculum
- Skill Building, Delivery, Classroom Based and On the Job
- Skill Assessment and Certification
