To take measurements objectively during a GESI assessment, it is important to first understand that assessment can either be identity-specific or across various factors as was discussed in GESI Intersectionality.

Secondly, the organisation must decide the scope of the assessment. For instance, the scope can examine: 

• Individual – employees, teachers, etc; 
• Interpersonal / community;
• Projects and services;
• Organisations and employers, and;
• Institutional structural orientation.
