Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPD) are membership-based organisations characterised by governance teams majorly made of persons with disabilities who typically represent the interests of the disability community in the geographic area they serve.

OPDs have a specific mission and organisational objective to promote the rights of persons with disabilities. They may also provide services to persons with disabilities and often also lead representative advocacy and influencing activities on behalf of the community, governments, international institutions and the private sector.

OPDs are distinct from disability-focused NGOs or service providers who may be providing much-needed support / filling service gaps for community members, but are not representative in the same way and do not speak for the disability community.
