Rapid shifts are occurring in the digital landscape. The learning environment demands that institutions increase their agility in responding to attendant threats to avoid inadvertent harm to their people.

Some strategies to consider to address these rapid shifts include:

    • Implementation of appropriate online monitoring technologies to ensure a safe and protected learning environment, e.g. content filtering, detection, and deterrence of malware, passwords, etc;
    • Adopting relevant policies to support digital learning and safeguarding such as a Data Protection Policy, Digital Safeguarding Policy, Privacy Policy, or Online Learning policies;
    • Investment in online safety education and training for all – staff, learners, etc;
    • Fully embracing digital learning as a tool for enhancing access to education and inclusion for all. Putting in place supporting platforms, redesigning of modules and content for easy access by all, and;
    • Enhancing due diligence measures for third-party service providers to support online safety measures e.g. holding them accountable to strengthen their online security.
