To understand the different barriers that women, youth and persons with disabilities face in accessing TVET and Higher Education institutions  and courses,  one can conduct an assessment of barriers and work with concerned parties in removing them.

There are a number of ways of removing barriers to accessing skill-building opportunities in TVET and HE institutions. Some of these include:
  • Alternative financing mechanisms e.g. training scholarships, vouchers, and student loans;
  • Transportation allowances or provision of accessible transport to and from TVET or HE institutions;
  • Universal accessibility of recruitment processes – languages, accessible and alternative formats, inclusive marketing;
  • Affirmative admissions requirements;
  • Accelerated learning courses;
  • Accessible training premises;
  • Training facilitators on universal design and accessible service delivery;
  • Making the curriculum flexible, inclusive and accessible (timing, training blocks, etc.);
  • Partner with employers and community for curriculum relevance, job market alignment, job placements,and;
  • Deployment of a dedicated career services staff skilled in equitable approaches to job matching.
