Resource 3: Activity 1 in ‘card’ format

This resource includes the statements from Activity 1 presented in a format that can be printed on paper or card, and then cut out. These little cards can be given out to students at random to work on. They can be used as a longer activity, or as a short activity of five or ten minutes.

The sum of two integers is NOT and integer

The difference of two irrational numbers is an irrational number

The product of two irrational numbers is an irrational number

The quotient of two whole numbers is a whole number

The quotient of two real numbers is a real number

There is an infinite number of pairs of whole numbers whose sum is 0

There exists a pair of whole numbers whose product is 1

The product of two real numbers is not a non-repeating, non-terminating decimal

The exact location of a natural number cannot be determined on a number line

The difference of two integers is to the left of each of the two integers on a number line
