Why this approach is important

Students learn best when they are engaged in practical, purposeful activities that relate to their everyday lives. They respond well to a variety of different stimuli that engage their senses and curiosity, both inside and outside the classroom. The school textbook cannot offer such a range of learning opportunities, so it is important to supplement it with a range of complementary activities.
